This release contains a lot (lot) of bug fixes and some great improvements:

View caching. Content of documents and anchorables are no longer recreated everytime a user moves them.
Auto-hide pane now opens quickly.
Two new themes. Expression (Dark and Light) and Metro. Both of them still in experimental stage.

Finally I can upload the new release of AvalonDock. This new release is stable and includes many new features if compared to 1.3:

AvalonDock 2.0 has been completely rewritten to take full advantage of the MVVM design.
The layout model is now completely separated from the view controls; integration with frameworks like PRISM is easier and faster.
I worked a lot to get the best performance especially when user move panes in floating window or set them as auto hidden.
Floating windows can now be arranged together as it's possible in VS2010.
The library itself is lighter because use only standard controls restyled like the TabControl or the Grid panel.
Since first beta I fixed a lot of bugs; this version should be stable enough for most of the projects.
Comes with two additional themes: VS2010 and Aero theme.

Welcome to the Beta release of AvalonDock 2.0

After 4 months of hard work I'm ready to upload the beta version of AvalonDock 2.0. This new version boosts a lot of new features and now is stable enough to be deployed in production scenarios. For this reason I encourage everyone is using AD 1.3 or earlier to upgrade soon to this new version. The final version is scheduled for the end of June.
What is included in Beta:
1) Stability! thanks to all users contribution I’ve corrected a lot of issues.
2) VS2010 theme almost completed
3) MVVM full support in almost every scenarios, including layout serialization

What will be included in release version:
1) VS2008 and Expression Themes.
2) RTL and DPI support

As the beta will clearly demostrate a good stabilty I'll shortly publish it to NuGet.

Welcome to early alpha release of AvalonDock 2.0

I've completely rewritten AvalonDock in order to take full advantage of the MVVM pattern.
New version also boost a lot of new features:
1) Deep separation between model and layout.
2) Full WPF binding support thanks to unified logical tree between main docking manager, auto-hide windows and floating windows.
3) Support for Aero semi-maximized windows feature.
4) Support for multiple panes in the same floating windows.

Please note that this release is not intended for production scenarios as is still an alpha version.
Even if at the moment there is no documentation nor full sample tutorials, I’ve created two sample project that shows the potential
of the library in two common scenarios. If you are in the way of starting a new project please consider to integrate the new version.
When a production ready release of the library will be available, I’ll publish it in nuget.
There is no ETA for the final version but a reasonable time frame is 2 months.

Known issues of this version:
1) No theming support
2) No menus language localization
3) No DPI support
4) No RTL support
5) Limited functionalities on auto hide windows

AvalonDock 1.3 contains some important new features comparing to version 1.2:

Support for .NET 4.0 (in addition to .NET 3.5 Sp1)
Normalized API (new useful methods and properties for contents and documents)
Grid splitters with preview (attenuating flickering problems when resizing unmanaged controls)
Fixed many issues in almost all areas
Added serialzation for documents (version 1.2 supports only dockable contents serialziation)
Localization (at moment only for English, Italian and German, soon more languages)
Added 2 brand new themes: Dev2010 and ExpressionDark

I've decided to shuthdown my blog site (youdev.net) as I'm too busy for now to update it with regularity. Anyway I created a getting started tutorial for AvalonDock (1.3) that can be accessed from here.
I'll try to answer any question you may have into the discussion section.

Compatibility with version 1.2
Some changes in applications that uses AvalonDock 1.2 are much probably required. If you have any problem just post into discussion tab your question and I'll try to answer ASAP.
