Release Notes

Welcome to AvalonDock 1.3

  • AvalonDockImageStyle not found issue
  • Some other isssues on DocumentContents and NavigatorWindow

What's new

AvalonDock 1.3 contains some important new features comparing to version 1.2:
  • Support for .NET 4.0 (in addition to .NET 3.5 Sp1)
  • Normalized API (new useful methods and properties for contents and documents)
  • Grid splitters with preview (attenuating flickering problems when resizing unmanaged controls)
  • Fixed many issues in almost all areas
  • Added serialzation for documents (version 1.2 supports only dockable contents serialziation)
  • Localization (at moment only for English, Italian and German, soon more languages)
  • Added 2 brand new themes: Dev2010 and ExpressionDark

I've decided to shuthdown my blog site ( as I'm too busy for now to update it with regularity. Anyway I created a getting started tutorial for AvalonDock (1.3) that can be accessed from here.
I'll try to answer any question you may have into the discussion section.

Compatibility with version 1.2
Some changes in applications that uses AvalonDock 1.2 are much probably required. If you have any problem just post into discussion tab your question and I'll try to answer ASAP.

Reviews for this release

Nice work mate! Avalon Dock is simply the best free docking component available for WPF. Can't wait for the next release!

Excellent component. Adds layers of polish to an application. Easily the best free docking library for WPF I've come across.

While it is pretty cool at first glance, when working longer with it, a lot of bugs and issues come appearant. First, the performance is sub-par at best, even with just 4 docked panes docked into one. Also, when dragging around, sooner or later you encounter layouting messups, resulting in the need of restarting the application to restore the layout. Sad, because this has lots of potential!

Very professionally done. I wish I could find a very simplified docking window example so I don't have to use a large framework like this, but it is quite nice!
